You're not dealing with resistance.
You're dealing with low trust.
Here’s how to build the kind of culture where people actually embrace change:
Start with transparency. Share the why behind the change—early and often. People can’t get behind what they don’t understand.
Make it safe to speak up. Invite feedback before the rollout. Give your team permission to challenge ideas without fear of repercussions.
Show consistency. If you say you’ll listen, act on what you hear. If you promise support, follow through. Trust is built in the gap between words and actions.
Recognize the impact. Change is hard. Don’t downplay it. Acknowledge the difficulty, empathize with the struggle, and show up with real support.
People don’t fear change.
They fear being left behind or let down in the process.
Trust is the bridge that gets them across.
